The rotogravure technique is also used for commercially printing postcards, magazines, and corrugated (cardboard) and other product packaging once a staple of newspaper photo features. Since rotogravure can transfer more ink to the paper than most other printing methods, it is noted for its extraordinary range of density (light to shadow) and is thus a process of preference for fine art reproduction and photography. Digital printing is the method of transferring a document to a specific print substrate through a device that accepts text and graphical output on a desktop or other digital storage device.
