Micro-CT (Micro Computer Tomography) is a slice-by-slice 3D imaging technology that uses X-rays to see inside an object. Micro-CT, also known as micro computed tomography, is a type of imaging like hospital CT scans, but on a much smaller scale with far higher resolution. Pixel sizes as small as 100 nanometers can be used to picture samples, and objects as large as 200 millimetres in diameter can be scanned. MicroComputer Tomography (MCT) is a type of X-ray transmission imaging. To make a radiograph, X-rays are emitted by an X-ray generator, travel through a sample, and are recorded by a detector on the opposite side. After that, the sample is rotated by a fraction of a degree and a new projection image is obtained in its place. This process is repeated until the sample has been rotated 180 or 360 degrees, resulting in a sequence of projection images. The projection images are then processed with computer software to reveal the object's interior structure in a nondestructive manner. Reconstructed images or cross sections are the terms used to describe this set of photographs. After that, the reconstructed images can be modelled into 3D volumetric objects for quantitative analysis and display. It is a consolidated imaging method that enables non-destructive three-dimensional (3D) qualitative and quantitative analysis through high-resolution observation of microstructures.
